Lux Chosen by Western Folklife Center to Develop New Website
National Cowboy Poetry Gathering event producers to refresh brand, online technology
January 4, 2005 - Elko, Nevada
Today Lux, a Seattle- and London-based online design, development, and documentation company, announced that it has been chosen by the Western Folklife Center (WFC) to assist in re-branding and website-development efforts to begin early in 2005. The not-for-profit center, located in Elko, Nevada, is dedicated to enhancing American life through the experience, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse cultural heritage of the American West.
Lux will work with WFC to create a new brand and identity, implement a new website design expanding the rebranding effort into the online world, and integrate content management solutions for the site's forums, polls, and email newsletters.
"It is a great pleasure to be working with the Western Folklife Center on this project," said Lux Vice President and Creative Director Ben Thompson. "All of us have been following Western Folklife's premiere event, the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, for years via NPR, and we're excited to be able to assist the WFC in its ongoing mission."
In pursuing its work, the Western Folklife Center is sensitive to the rich, varied, and layered identities of the peoples of the American West. Although the Center has historically focused on the stories, poetry, music, and crafts of ranching culture, its broader mission is to honor and preserve the expressive life of diverse occupational, tribal, ethnic, generational, and spiritual traditions.
Lux is an online design, development, and documentation company based in Seattle and London. Lux clients include Microsoft, PEMCO, T-Mobile, Tommy Bahama, IDX, Valley Medical Center, Akamai Technologies, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, and Rabanco.
