Lux to Serve as Consultant for Washington State Health Insurance Pool Board
January 3, 2005 - Seattle
Lux, a Seattle- and London-based online design, development, and documentation company, was recently selected by the Washington State Health Insurance Pool Board (WSHIP) to act as an independent consultant on a project aimed at establishing and managing standards for the online implementation of its Standard Health Questionnaire. These standards will apply to licensed carriers and agents who desire to incorporate the questionnaire in their online application process.
The work will be completed in two phases. First, Lux will help establish criteria for the online format for the questionnaire. Second, Lux will audit and report on individual carrier compliance. Key standards for compliance will be identified, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (US section 508), Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) standards, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, WSHIP web standards, and privacy standards/security protocols including requiring and enforcing the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) by individual carriers.
WSHIP was created by the Washington State Legislature to provide access to health insurance to all residents of the state who are denied individual health insurance.
Lux is an online design, development, and documentation company based in Seattle and London. Lux clients include Microsoft, PEMCO, T-Mobile, Tommy Bahama, IDX, Valley Medical Center, Akamai Technologies, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, and Rabanco.
