Lux Launches New Valley Medical Website
December 4, 2004 - Seattle
Lux, a Seattle- and London-based online design, development, and documentation company, recently launched a new website for Valley Medical Center (VMC). The new site highlights Lux's integrated approach to website design, consultation, and development.
VMC, a health care network committed to improving the overall health of our community, selected Lux to create a new online presence in 2002 and has worked with Lux on an on-going basis since that time.
The new site features a complete design refresh as well as the implementation of new clinic appointment and patient registration forms.
Besides refreshing their current site, VMC wanted the ability to update and refresh the site on a regular basis with minimal capital investment.
Lux rebuilt the entire VMC site to W3C standards using XHTML with cascading style sheets (CSS). The use of XHTML and CSS allows VMC to refresh their website on a regular basis, drastically reducing the time and expense needed to update it. This frees up VMC capital to invest in other web-based initiatives. The new site was also brought up to compliance with current Level 1 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) standards.
With VMC's Clinic Network expanding rapidly, VMC decided to leverage the existing functionality and reduce patient wait times at the clinics. Lux created new clinic online appointment request and clinic new patient registration forms for the website. Both forms are also encrypted and meet HIPAA privacy regulations.
The submitted forms are encrypted and sent to a secure database. Clinic staff can access the forms using a secure content management system (CMS).
The site that Lux designed and built in 2002 featured a complete graphic redesign, 360-degree views of important centers of excellence and common areas, and an easy-to-use content management system that allows rapid updates.
Lux is an online design, development, and documentation company based in Seattle and London. Lux clients include Microsoft, PEMCO, T-Mobile, Tommy Bahama, IDX, Akamai Technologies, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, and Rabanco.
